Generosity is not NATURAL.

Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Definition of Generosity

Jesus Definition of Generosity — “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

When you FREE your money… you free yourself from your money.

MORE money does not generate more self-control, more discipline, or more contentment.

Prayer:  God, we repent for believing the lie that everything that comes into our lives is for our consumption. We ask You to forgive us & we shut the door the enemy’s strategy to believe his lies. We break the power of greed & selfishness off of our lives. God, we put our trust in You because You always richly provide. So we ask for Your resource, favor, & Your blessing!


Leader’s ID

One of the key things we need to discover as a Extra Mile person is to Know Our Identity. Any strong family, church, and business have leaders who have identified who they are!  As a result, they are confident & effective in school, at home, in ministry, and at work.

John 8:18 — Jesus said, “I am the one who testifies for Myself.”

John 4:10 — “If you only knew who I am, you’d ask Me for some living water.”

Jesus was one of the best leaders on the planet.  He had no self-doubts.  He knew exactly who He was. Eight times in the Gospels, He said, “I am” and then He defines Himself.

Like “I am the bread of life…I am the way, the truth and the life…I am the door…I am the resurrection…I am the Good Shepherd.” 

To WIN in life, 2nd Mile people have to be confident in our leadership.  Who are you as a person?  Who are you as a parent?  What is your ID as a student?  When you see yourself as a business person or in the workplace, what do you see about yourself?

Why is it important to know your identity?

  •  Your ID affects what you do, how you do it, and why you do it.
  • Everything you believe about you and your outlook on every part of life comes through your ID.  Even your relationship with God and others is all filtered through your ID.
  • So if we don’t SEE right things about our lives, it affects us and our growth potential.

The 1st thing you need to believe about you is that you are a leader. Just as Jesus was a leader, so He has called you to influence the people around for His good.

I believe that God has called every Christian to be a leader. The problem comes when you don’t think of yourself as a leader.  That’s your ID.  

Many people think that a leader is a certain kind of personality. They have to be outgoing or a good communicator.  Those can be 2 good attributes to being a leader.  But that’s not totally true. It’s incomplete.

God uses all kinds of people, personalities, and strengths to be leaders.

  • God used teenagers to lead entire nations.  God used the elderly. He used both women and men as leaders.
  • He uses people who are very bright and He uses people with average intelligence.
  • God uses leaders who are shybolddon’t like to be on a stage…rather work behind the scenesfunny.
  • Regardless — they’re all still a leader…I want to bust the idea of what you think a leader is.

A leader is what God wants you to be, and He’s not wanting to change your personality.  He wants to use you as a leader the way you are.

More Than Numbers

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. – 1 Timothy 6:9-10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.

Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s.

√ Earning – Principle of MARGIN

√ Spending – 90% of Americans don’t know

√ Saving – Average American spends 136% of their income

√ Investing – Put money aside to let it grow

√ Giving – The average Christian gives 3.8%

1. Calling vs. Compensation

· We don’t just need money to live on…we need something to live for

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me. – Acts 20:24

2. Contentment vs. Consumerism

Don’t always be wishing for what you don’t have. For real life and real living are not related to how rich we are. – Luke 12:15 LB

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. – Philippians 4:12

· Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want but the realization of what you already have.

3. God Dependent vs. Independent

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it a wall too high to scale. – Proverbs 18:11

Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. – Proverbs 30:8-9

· I will not trust in riches but I will trust in Him who richly provides.

4. Stewardship vs. Ownership

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. – Matthew 6:19-20

5. Generosity vs. Misery

The Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35

The value of my life isn’t determined by how much I accumulate, but by how much of my life I give away.

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. – 1 Timothy 6:18-19

WIN the WAR WITHIN – Remove the Limits.


How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert! Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. They did not remember His power: The day when He redeemed them from the enemy…  Psalm 78:40-42 NKJ


Pray – God, we take the limits off of You…we believe You can do more…far above…and accomplish greater things than we could ever imagine…we will walk in everything you want us to possess for Your Glory! 


WALK the Spiritual WALK.

A WALK & WAR principle – I believe what’s in me determines my life…Not the circumstances or people around me!


1 – LARGE Spirit


“Dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives are not small, but you are living them in a small way…Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively.  2 Corinthians 6:11-13 (MB)


2 – Purposeful Life


Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people). Ephesians 5:15


3 – Prosperous Soul


Rom 8 – “Be spiritually minded…experience God’s life and peace…”


But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.  1 Corinthians 2:14

5 Ways to Improve Your Adversity Quotient

To WIN in Life is not automatic. Many times when we talk about Winning, we forget that how we deal with Adversity is very important. We definitely do not want to be associated with being a Quitter in the midst of a cycle of defeat in our life. So what are some things we need to believe to help us develop a Winner’s Mentality in the middle of those times we are feeling defeat.

Paul Stoltz wrote the book entitled the Adversity Quotient. In this book, he says, “Success in life is not based on your IQ, but your ability to turn obstacles into opportunities which comes from your AQ.” The Bibles tells us, “Friends, count it all joy when you fall into various trials…” (James 1:2). We have to learn that stuff happens and we don’t have to be traumatized, freak out, or get angry! I had to learn this early in our marriage because Rachel and I did not have much. But anything that happened in our money, I had to be careful that I just did not go off. But I was not very good at handling the negatives of our married life. That’s a person’s Adversity Quotient.

So here are some simple strategies to increase your ability to handle the negatives in your life — your Adversity Quotient!

5 Ways to Improve Your Adversity Quotient

#1 – Believe God is Good and Life is Good (James 1:15)

Even when problems come into your life, it is so important to believe that God is backing you up. He is for you and not against you, which means that you can get going and moving forward in life! God gives you every good and perfect gift, which comes down from above because in His goodness He chose us as His children.

#2 – Believe in Yourself (Psalm 8:4-6)

Even when you feel like a failure, know that you are a creation of God. You are made in the likeness and image of God. The Psalmist asked God “Why do you care about us humans?” He came to the realization that you and I have been crowned with God’s glory and honor. In other words, God has put all things under our authority. God has given you and I the ability to choose how far we go in life. Believe in who God has created You to be.

#3 – Look for Options and Answers (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Everyone of us are tempted in life to think we are the ONLY ones who are facing this test, trial, or problems in life. But you need to know there is no new problem in life – everything in life just repeats itself! In every problem, there is a way of escape, we just have to look for it. Don’t focus on the problem. Learn to look beyond it; otherwise, you will not be able to see your way out! God will show you a WAY!

#4 – Take a Step Toward the Best Option (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:3)

So many times we can get caught standing neutral and not moving at all. Maybe you have caught yourself saying about a problem “well, that won’t work…I don’t know about that…I am afraid to do that…I tried that before…” You have to believe your steps are ordered by the Lord. In other words, if you do what the LORD wants, he will make certain each step you take is sure. Because your steps are directed by the LORD, He delights in every detail of their lives. Take a step.

#5 – The Victim Never Changes His Circumstances (Numbers 14)

You get to decide — you can either be the whiner or the winner. But you cannot be both. When God delivered His people, the Israelites, out of slavery in Egypt, they were all negative and scared. God had a difficult time getting them to believe they could go into the Land of Canaan because their focus was on the giants. They could not see the Promise of God. They had a victim mentality…not a victor mentality! Get Your Winner’s Mentality working today and Change Your Circumstance. You are a WINNER!
